INCREDIBLE ANALOGUE SOUND FROM A DIGITAL SOURCE

We created the SCD-025 Mk. II by using one of our favourite turntables and our Masterpiece MP-P201 phono stage as a reference point. Our aim was to produce the best possible analog sound from a digital source. In other words, we wanted to create a CD player that offered a more “musical” listening experience than any other CD player on the market.

After much research and development, we have created a product that surpasses expectations. The SCD-025 Mk.II is much more than just a CD player. With USB, AES/EBU, and S/PDIF inputs, it can also serve as the digital source of truth for your entire setup. serve as the digital source of truth for your entire setup.

CUSTOM TECHNOLOGY TO MEET STRICT REQUIREMENTS

We chose the Philips CD Pro 2 LF drive and stripped it back to its basic mechanical and electronic parts before rebuilding it to meet our requirements. This greatly reduces errors when reading disc information and relieves the burden on the error correction system within the drive.

We use sample rate conversion to minimise jitter, and thanks to the Engineered Q8 sample rate converter module, we achieved a sample rate of 384kHz.

The analogue stage is taken directly from our amplifiers and special attention was paid to the PSU which is split into four separate supplies. One for the drive, one for the digital stage and two (left and right) for the analogue stage. This is immensely important in lowering the noise floor and producing our famed black backgrounds.
