MAGICO A3 SPEAKERS

The Magico A3 Speakers are an excellent value, featuring cutting-edge concepts and technology from the rest of the Magico line. The simple rectangular shape and brushed, anodized finish help to optimize performance and value while reducing cost.

The A3 boasts a three-way, four-driver design that includes a 28mm tweeter, a 6” midrange, and dual 7” woofers. This combination produces an impressive 22Hz to 50kHz frequency response.

The tweeter features a pure beryllium diaphragm and takes its design and geometry inspiration from Magico’s limited edition M-Project’s tweeters. Meanwhile, the 6” midrange driver uses a carbon fiber cone coated with XG Nanographene and extra-large magnets to create a more stabilized field.

Very inert design

The design of a loudspeaker involves a complex interplay of various aspects. However, one crucial consideration is the loudspeaker cabinet. The cabinet should not affect the sound quality, even though the primary goal of a loudspeaker is to convert an electrical signal into sound waves.

The A-series loudspeaker was created to offer a full-range, moderately tall floor-standing loudspeaker that incorporates similar design philosophies found in higher-end Magico offerings. The aim was to offer a high-quality product at a price point that would make it accessible to a wider audience of audiophiles and music enthusiasts. Although the A-series has a smaller footprint compared to the S3, I was eager to find out if Magico could achieve this ambitious goal.

High-Frequency driver

The design of the Magico A3 tweeter is a pure beryllium dome based on the M-Project high-frequency topology. An improved back chamber aluminium with enhanced damping characteristics houses a customised neodymium motor system to provide extended linear voice coil movement—this movement translated to ultra-low distortion, higher power handling ability and improved dynamic range.

The newly developed 6-inch midrange employs a Multi-Wall carbon fibre cone with a layer of XG Nanographene. The XG technology provides optimal stiffness-to-weight ratios and an ideal damping factor. Overhung neodymium-based motor systems incorporate extra-large magnets to ensure a stabilised magnetic field in the 75-mm pure titanium voice coils of both the midrange and bass drivers.

Low-Frequency Drivers

Dual 7-inch woofers incorporate a version of the new Gen 8 MAGICO Nano-Tec cone. The same properties and materials that allow for the proper combination of stiffness, mass, and damping are carried through to the lowest frequencies. The simulation of chassis has also been tested for the optimal combination of stiffness and damping. A new overhung neodymium (N48) motor system anchors the low-frequency reproducers to accomplish a superstabilised magnetic field. Pure Titanium, 75mm voice coils are consistent with the technology utilised through the midrange.
The Magico A3 Loudspeaker midrange and Low-frequency drivers were optimised for minimal music-related distortions in its bandpass. Both the frequency and time domains use the latest state-of-the-art FEA simulation, acoustic, mechanical, electromagnetic and thermal behaviour. This behaviour is now being done on a single platform, allowing Magico to take the next step in performance optimisation.
